On 23 September 2022, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), in collaboration with the Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat (TKCS), Namibia Revenue Authority (NamRA), and Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS), held an urgent meeting with stakeholders who utilize and travel along the Trans Kalahari Corridor.
The meeting addressed various matters impacting the smooth flow of trade such as non-tariff barriers and congestion, which are currently affecting operations and throughput at the Trans Kalahari/Mamumo Borders.
The meeting resulted in a short-term action plan aimed at resolving the issues raised as soon as possible. Mr. Mbahupu H. Tjivikua, CEO of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, stated that “on a positive note, volumes have increased significantly, giving credence to our collective course.”
